DTI FT-UB Lecturer Visits Manufacturing Companies in Japan

Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (DTI FT-UB), Dr.Eng. Ir. Oke Oktavianty, S.Sc., MT., had a chance to implement a staff exchange and joint research publications program in Yamaguchi and Fukuoka Japan, 14-22 November 2022.

The visit, which was part of the Word Class University (WCU) Program, was carried out at two manufacturing companies at the same time, namely PMT. Corp. and Takatori Seisakusho Co., Ltd. which has its main office in Fukuoka city.

“The visit to PMT Corp was carried out to discuss the extension of the MoU, which had previously collaborated in research on inkjet printers since 2019,” she explained.

The title of the research is “Evaluation of Waveform Design Effect on Printability Area of ​​DoD Inkjet Printer in The Multi-drop Ejection Method”.

While PMT Corp itself is a company engaged in the field of ultra-precision machining, flat printing machines, mechatronics machines, ceramic stage machines, and ultrasonic equipment.

According to the lecturer who also serves as Secretary of the Department, the collaboration between the two institutions will be extended to the education area in the form of an internship program for students at DTI FT-UB.

Then the field visit continued to the Takatori Seisakusho company to get to know deeply about the company profile. Furthermore, the production process and discussions for possible collaboration in the research area.

“This meeting resulted in a MoU draft which is planned to be implemented starting in 2023 for the two companies with DTI FT-UB,” she added.

The visit to the field was guided directly by the President and CEO of Takatori Seisakusho, namely Kojiro Fujiyama.

Takatori Seisakusho is engaged in the production of valves and strainers which are indispensable for the shipbuilding industry.

It is hoped that the existence of a cooperation agreement with these two companies in Japan can improve the reputation of UB, especially the Department of Industrial Engineering in the international world.

“Besides that, it can provide greater opportunities for the academic community to play a more active role for common progress,” concluded the lecturer in industrial statistics and quality engineering.
