This program is part of the community service of TI-UB lecturers entitled IbM (Science and Technology for the Community) Training of IKM Wood Craft Business Models in an Effort to Increase Production and Sales in the Digital Era of Entrepreneurs.

“We see the woodcraft IKM industry has a real role in building and providing jobs for the community,” explained the head of the Community Service Team, Endra Yuafanedi Arifianto, ST., MT.

From the 20 wood craftsmen IKM members who are members of a group or association of partners of the community service team TIUB in the Purworejo Sub-District, Pasuruan City, is currently able to employ around 80 employees.

This means that there are 80 people who depend on their daily income from the sale of products in the IKM sector. In fact, there are some employees who are heads of households, so the existence of the IKM group is expected to increase employee salaries and the number of new workers in the woodcraft sector.

“Based on the identification of the problems carried out by the team, there are three issues of priority for partners of the IKM woodcraft group that can be assisted by our completion,” explained Endra.

The problems line up are poor business systems and models, prediction and production planning that does not yet exist, and limited capacity in information technology, especially digital marketing.

The trainees are targeted to be able to create a business model using the Business Model Canvas approach. To catch up with technology, they are also trained to be able to use Microsoft Excel and Minitab in predicting and planning their production.

“Later the contents are about the database of predictive information and production planning. Besides that, it is expected that wood crafters can practice digital entrepreneurs by making social media for business. For example, FB ads as a marketing tool in the digital era,” explained the lecturer who also fostered a number of UMKM communities in Malang Raya.

The time for mentoring the IKM of woodcraft in Purworejo Sub-district, Pasuruan City by TIUB’s community service team lasted for 5 months starting from June to October 2018.

Besides Endra, several lecturers involved in this service were Ir. Mochamad Choiri, MT.DwiHadiSulistyarini, ST., MT.Debrina Puspita Andriani, ST., M.Eng., Dewi Hardiningtyas, ST., MT., M.BA., and Prof. Dr. Qomariyatus Sholihah, ST., M.Kes. (and)
