Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (TI FT-UB) held a meeting with parents /guardians of students on Saturday, October 26, 2019, in the 6th Floor Auditorium of the TI Building.

This activity is a routine agenda of the department in order to strengthen communication and establish friendships with parents/guardians of students.

The event on that day have two session. The first session was a meeting with parents/ guardians of new students class of 2019 and continued with study evaluation for 2013-2018 class.

On this occasion the Head of the Department Ir. Oyong Novareza, ST., MT., Ph.D said that parents or guardians of students should take an active role in supervising their children so they can learn optimally during the study period.

“We ask the parents or the guardians of students to fill out complete biodata to facilitate communication and provide access to the SIAM (Student Academic Information System) application to avoid academic problems in the future,” he said.

Oyong also said that to be accepted in the Industrial Engineering department students had undergone a rigorous selection. So when under normal conditions and without distractions, it must be students can learn well.

Parents of students who attended directly from Central Sulawesi, Parman P., considered the audience between parents / guardians of students and the campus very important. This shows the commitment of the department so that their student get a good future.

“I consider this meeting is very urgent, appreciation related to this activity. Hopefully our children will succeed in the future,” he stressed.

After the meeting with parents/guardians the event continued with a socialization of academic evaluation. In this session Industrial Engineering department invited students who were affected by the study evaluation also their parents to discuss with the academic supervisor.

From the results of student academic evaluations, there were a total of 59 students affected by the evaluation of study success warnings.

The details are 4 students of class 2018, 6 students of class of 2017, 1 student of class of 2016, 3 students of class of 2015, 4 students of class of 2014, then the rest are 41 students of class of 2013.

 “We will not lower graduation standards, but we are committed to helping them to quickly graduate from college,” said the Head of Department.
