The Industrial Engineering Vocational Agency (BKTI) Association of Indonesian Engineer (PII) in cooperation with Brawijaya University Industrial Engineering (TIUB) held a certification interview for Professional Engineer Acceleration Program on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the TIUB Building Auditorium.

This opportunity is not wasted by about 34 candidates of professional engineers (IPP/IPM/IPU) from all over East Java. They are industrial engineering professionals, engineers, industrial engineering graduates, and specialists in manufacturing.

Among them; PT. Kimia Farma, PT. Paper Factory Tjiwi Kimia Mojokerto, University of Yudharta Pasuruan, University of Wisnuwardhana Malang, ITN Malang, STT STIKMA International Malang, PGRI Ronggolawe Tuban University, Gajayana University Malang, UMM Malang, Faculty of Agricultural Technology UB, and the host, TIUB.

It is said by the General Secretary of BKTI-PII Ir. Catur Hernanto, MM., IPM., Asean Eng., Interview is one part of the certification process that aims to bring his party closer to the prospective professional engineer.

Prospective engineers are also required to submit a curriculum vitae and a Professional Engineering Application Form (FAIP). Assessor Assembly (MP) PII will conduct an evaluation/evaluation session on all incoming FAIP.

Even to accelerate the certification process BKTI-PII also facilitate interview through teleconference.

“We are the only vocational body that facilitates the interview process with the teleconference,” he said.

This is done purely to pursue the number of professional engineers in the field of industrial engineering before the Government Regulation (PP) governing the profession of engineers is published.

“Of the approximately 200 industrial engineering studies programs across Indonesia, we have about 50,000 alumni. If this PP is published, you can imagine people will scramble to get this certification,” he explained.

This certification is required as a basis for permission to carry out work practices in the field of engineering.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Faculty of Engineering UB Ishardita Pambudi Tama, ST., MT., Ph.D. when opening the activity said that he appreciates BKTI-PII effort to increase the number of professional engineers.

“The efforts to increase the number of professional engineers really need to be appreciated. I think BKTI is one of the vocational institutions in PII that facilitate the prospective engineers,” he said while giving a speech.

The certification interview stage presents Ir. Sritomo Wignjosoebroto, M.Sc., IPU (Lecturer of ITS Surabaya), Ir. Nasir Widha Setyanto, ST., MT., IPM. (TIUB Lecturer), and Ir. Remba Yanuar Efranto, ST., MT., IPM (TI-UB) as Assembly of Assessors of BKTI-PII. (and/mic)
