SE 2017 @ Newater SingaporeA total of 120 Industrial Engineering Department (TI) students class of 2014 Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) conducted an Excursion Study 2017. This time, the department’s annual program which goal is to increase the students’ insight was conducted in the neighboring country, Singapore.

The activity which took place on 18-20 May 2017 is targeting government agencies, education, industry, and tourism areas. On the first day, the group headed to the office of the urban development authority of Singapore, Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).

The students can know the layout and development of Singapore city-state from time to time here, as well as how to use land efficiently and maximally to reduce the waste of land to face the lack of land.

On the second day, the group went to visit the largest university in Singapore, based on the number of students and programs offered, that is National University of Singapore (NUS). The visit was conducted at Faculty of Engineering NUS.

Then the event proceeded to the machine repair expert company, Goltens Singapore Pte.Ltd. On the same day, the group also enjoyed the beauty of Marina Barrage and Sentosa Island.

On the last day, students are stunned by the process of reclamation or high-tech water recycling in Singapore by visiting the NEWater Visitor Center. The three days activity then closed with a city tour.

The Head of TI Department and lecturer supervisor of  this activity, Ishardita Pambudi Tama, ST., MT., Ph.D., said that excursion study is one of the annual programs of the department. It is expected to increase knowledge and benefit for students and hopefully to have various destination each year. (and/mic)
